Aurora Aksnes earliest musical memory is that of finding a piano in her attic and being fascinated by the sound it could make. Jan Oystein Aksnes' parents May Britt Aksnes encouraged her to make music as a means of development of her own, not as a way of earning money or to pursue as a hobby. In order to do so she wrote her first new compositions. As well as Bjork as well, she mentions Leonard Cohen as an influence. To counter her mother's suggestions that her children shouldn't be trying to become famous with their songwriting skills, she instead be aware of the significance of them and the impact they have on society. She began playing the piano when she was six years old and started making music when she was 9 years old. Her family didn't hear about her music until she reached fourteen. Aurora isn't something she imagined as a child. According to her, she just likes to write songs. According to her, she believes music can make people feel more relaxed.
