Jan Oystein Aksnes, her parents, May Britt Aksnes, and Jan Oystein Aksnes, encouraged their daughter to take up music more as a hobby than a profession. They advised her to compose. She credits renowned composers Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan in her influences, along with an affinity for Bjork's style. Responding to her mother's suggestions that she should not be aiming to become famous with the songs she writes, but rather realize the importance of themselves and their impact on society. When she was six She began playing the piano and at nine was writing music. She didn't tell her family about her music until she reached fourteen. Aurora wasn't a childhood dream. As she says, she simply likes to write songs. She believes that music is the only method of feeling anything.
