Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better known by her stage name of Ari Lennox, is an American artist and performer born in Washington, D.C., who was the first female to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. In October of 2016, Ari Lennox released her EP Pho. The EP was where she gained recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It came out in May of 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading her music onto the internet in 2012 as she released her debut mixtape called Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography In 2013. In 2014 she continued to share her music over the internet, including her self launched single Bound. She was featured in Omen's Elephant Eyes as well as in Sweat It Out on the 21st of July the 21st of July, 2015. J. Cole was interested in her talents and was keen to collaborate together with Rihanna. The news was released on December 8 that she was signed to Dreamville Records. The album Revenge of the Dreamers II which she was featured on, she sang the track Backseat with Cozz. In October 21, 2016, she released her debut EP entitled Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's song Change and was an opening act on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in the year 2017. The year 2018 saw Ari Lennox guested on two tracks by EarthGang, on Nothing but the Best, and Bas, on Icarus. Ari Lennox's debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on the 16th of July, 2018. The debut single, called Whipped Cream of the album dropped on September 5, 2018 with an accompanying music video. On November 9 she released two additional singles titled 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. Two additional singles were also released by her on 11/13 with the titles Pedigree and One. The singer appeared alongside Cole on her Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby, on November 16, and then she released the song as a solo single on the album she released her debut. In February of 2019, her music video to this song was released. The song has received more than 3 million YouTube views in just a single week. As a support act, she toured in concert with 6LACK in December 2018 on their From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
